What we can help with

POA Drafting is a paid, time-boxed session with an in-house NOS lawyer to plan a legally valid Indian Power of Attorney under the Powers of Attorney Act 1882 — whether you need to authorise someone to manage property, operate a bank account, represent you in litigation, or act across several matters while you can't be present yourself. You describe the problem, choose a tier, pick a slot in your own timezone and pay a flat fee. Nothing is billed by the hour, and no lawyer time is committed until payment is captured.

Three tiers, one flat fee. Simple for a Special POA covering one power, with everyone in India; Standard for a General POA or several powers together; and Complex for a POA that empowers sale or transfer of property, involves more than one attorney, or is cross-border. Your intake produces a recommendation — you can move up freely, or down with a warning.

What you get. A structured advice memo within 48 hours of the session — the issue, the facts relied on, the recommended drafting approach, your options and the recommended next step, including pointers on stamping, witnessing and registration — plus a follow-up window to ask the same lawyer clarifying questions in the same thread. If your matter needs further work — drafting the final instrument, or registration — your session fee is credited against that case.

What it isn't. This session is advice and drafting guidance, not a substitute for reviewing or registering a POA you already hold — those are handled separately. A Power of Attorney also cannot itself transfer ownership of property; where that's the goal, the memo will say so plainly. If the opposite party is already a NOS client, or your request is really about an existing POA, we decline and refund in full rather than advise you badly.

How it works on the ground

The government process is scattered across portals, offices and paperwork. NOS turns it into one guided flow.

The reality on the ground

Getting a Power of Attorney drafted today

4 hurdles

Generic templates downloaded online rarely match what you actually want to authorise, and often grant far more than intended.

You explain the same background to a drafting clerk, then again to whoever reviews it before signing.

From abroad, figuring out consular attestation versus notary-and-apostille is left entirely to you.

Whether registration is even required for your POA is rarely explained up front.

The NOS way

One session, one lawyer, one memo

6 steps · one flow
  1. 01Tell us what you need

A short intake covering the POA type, the powers involved, your attorney and any property. About two minutes, before any payment.

  2. 02Capacity, conflict & scope checks

Every matter is screened before a slot is confirmed — and we refund in full rather than advise where we shouldn't.

  3. 03A tier matched to your matter

Complexity scoring maps you to Simple, Standard or Complex. Property-transfer and cross-border matters are floored to Complex. The flat fee is shown before you commit.

  4. 04A slot in your timezone

Slots render in your local time, filtered to lawyers who speak your language.

  5. 05The session, on your channel

Video, voice, or WhatsApp voice if the line drops — with the lawyer who owns your matter.

  6. 06A memo you can act on

A structured advice memo within 48 hours covering the recommended drafting approach and execution pointers, a follow-up window with the same lawyer, and your fee credited if you convert to a full case.

A memo, not just a call

Issue, facts relied on, recommended approach, options and next steps — in writing within 48 hours.

One lawyer throughout

The same lawyer takes the session, writes the memo, answers your follow-ups and carries any case forward.

What we handle

Authorising someone to manage property while you're abroad A General Power of Attorney for day-to-day affairs A Special Power of Attorney for one specific act Selling or transferring property through an attorney Banking operations on your behalf Litigation & representation in an existing matter NRI / cross-border execution questions Not sure whether you need a General or Special POA

How it works

  1. 01
    Step 1

    Tell us what you need

Describe the Power of Attorney you want to grant — General or Special, the powers involved, your attorney, and whether property is covered — in a short intake. Documents are optional; a session can go ahead with nothing uploaded.

  2. 02
    Step 2

    We screen the matter

Before anything is booked we run a capacity, conflict-of-interest and scope check. If the request is really about reviewing or registering a POA you already have, or the other side is already a NOS client, we decline and refund in full rather than advise you badly.

  3. 03
    Step 3

    Choose your tier & slot

Your answers produce a complexity score and a recommended tier — Simple, Standard or Complex. A property-transfer power or a cross-border matter floors you to Complex. Then pick a slot in your own timezone with a lawyer who speaks your language.

  4. 04
    Step 4

Pay — and your lawyer is assigned

Sessions are pay-first at a flat fee for the tier: no hourly billing, no per-stage quotes. The slot is held and one lawyer becomes the owner of your matter only once payment is captured.

  5. 05
    Step 5

    Your session

The lawyer walks through the powers you want to grant, who should hold them, and how the instrument should be scoped, by video, voice, or WhatsApp voice if the connection is poor.

  6. 06
    Step 6

    Advice memo & follow-up

    Delivered

Within 48 hours you receive a structured memo — the issue, the facts relied on, the recommended drafting approach, your options and next steps (including stamping, witnessing and registration pointers) — plus a follow-up window to ask the same lawyer clarifying questions.

What you'll typically need

  • The powers you want to grant, and to whom
  • Whether the POA needs to cover selling or managing property
  • Whether you (the principal) or the attorney will be in India or abroad
  • Whether there's an existing case or lawyer, and the other party's name (for the conflict check)
  • Your preferred language and the timezone you'll be joining from

Documents are optional here — a session can go ahead with nothing uploaded at all. Property documents and ID help your lawyer give more precise guidance, but you can add them later.

Made for NRIs. Slots are shown in your local time and matched to a lawyer who speaks your language. The fee is charged in INR and displayed in USD or AED so you always know what you're paying. If the video drops, the session falls back to voice and then to WhatsApp — no rebooking, no trip home.
