Straight answers from an Indian lawyer — booked into your timezone, delivered in writing. Describe your matter, choose a seniority tier, and speak to one in-house NOS lawyer by video, voice or WhatsApp. You leave with a structured advice memo within 48 hours, a week of follow-up questions with the same lawyer, and your fee credited if you take the matter further.
Understand the service
What we can help with
An Expert Legal Consultation is a paid, time-boxed session with an in-house NOS lawyer on any matter connected to India — India-situated property, Indian personal or family law, an Indian court or authority, an Indian counterparty, or citizenship / OCI status. You describe the problem, choose a tier, pick a slot in your own timezone and pay a flat fee. Nothing is billed by the hour, and no lawyer time is committed until payment is captured.
Three tiers, one flat fee. Associate for a single, straightforward question; Senior for multi-issue matters, an existing case, or anything sensitive; and Principal for high-value, strategic or cross-border matters. Your intake produces a recommendation — you can move up freely, or down with a warning. Sensitive family matters (domestic violence, custody, a minor) are always handled at Senior level or above, with your language and gender preference honoured.
What you get. A structured advice memo within 48 hours of the session — the issue, the facts relied on, the opinion, your options and the recommended next step — plus a 7-day follow-up window to ask the same lawyer clarifying questions in the same thread. If the memo recommends a further service — litigation, drafting or execution — your consultation fee is credited against that case.
What it isn't. A consultation is advice, not representation: no court appearance, no filing, and it does not create an advocate-client relationship of record. Where the matter needs action on the ground, the memo names the service that does it and the same lawyer carries it forward. If the opposite party is already a NOS client, or the matter has no India nexus, we decline and refund in full rather than advise.
How it works on the ground
The government process is scattered across portals, offices and paperwork. NOS turns it into one guided flow.
The reality on the ground
Getting straight legal advice today
Directories list hundreds of advocates with no way to judge seniority, and the fee is negotiated case by case.
You explain the matter to book, again on the call, and a third time to whoever picks up the follow-up.
Most consultations end in conversation and nothing in writing — nothing to re-read, forward or act on.
From abroad the timezone, the language and the payment method all work against you.
The NOS way
One session, one lawyer, one memo
01Tell us the problem
A 6–8 question intake covering the domain, the facts, your desired outcome and your language. About two minutes, before any payment.
02Safety, conflict & scope checks
Every matter is screened before a slot is confirmed — and we refund in full rather than advise where we shouldn't.
03A tier matched to your matter
Complexity scoring maps you to Associate, Senior or Principal and to the right specialisation queue. The flat fee is shown before you commit.
04A slot in your timezone
Slots render in your local time, usually within 24–48 hours, filtered to lawyers who speak your language.
05The session, on your channel
Video, voice, or WhatsApp voice if the line drops — 30–45 minutes with the lawyer who owns your matter.
06A memo you can act on
A structured advice memo within 48 hours, a 7-day follow-up window with the same lawyer, and your fee credited if you convert to a full case.
one flow, tracked end to end
Step 01 of 06
Tell us the problem
A 6–8 question intake covering the domain, the facts, your desired outcome and your language. About two minutes, before any payment.
one flow, tracked end to end
Session within 24–48h
Timezone-aware slots, usually within two days — and a 2-hour callback if it's a safety emergency.
A memo, not just a call
Issue, facts relied on, opinion, options and recommended next step — in writing within 48 hours.
One lawyer throughout
The same lawyer takes the session, writes the memo, answers your follow-ups and carries any case forward.
What we handle
How it works
- 01Step 1
Tell us the problem
Pick your legal domain — property, family, succession, criminal / cyber or corporate — and answer a short 6–8 question intake covering the facts, the outcome you want and your preferred language. Documents are optional; a session can go ahead with nothing uploaded.
- 02Step 2
We screen the matter
Before anything is booked we run a safety, conflict-of-interest and scope check. If the other side is already a NOS client, or the matter falls outside advisory scope, we decline and refund in full rather than advise you badly.
- 03Step 3
Choose your tier & slot
Your answers produce a complexity score and a recommended seniority tier — Associate, Senior or Principal. Move up freely, or down with a warning. Then pick a slot in your own timezone, usually within 24–48 hours, with a lawyer who speaks your language.
- 04Step 4
Pay — and your lawyer is assigned
Consultations are pay-first at a flat fee for the tier: no hourly billing, no per-stage quotes. The slot is held and one lawyer becomes the owner of your matter only once payment is captured. Confirmation, join link and your lawyer's profile arrive in your local time.
- 05Step 5
Your session
Thirty to forty-five minutes by video or voice, with a WhatsApp voice fallback if the connection is poor. Ten Indian languages are supported, and a gender preference is honoured on sensitive family matters.
- 06Step 6
Advice memo & follow-up
DeliveredWithin 48 hours you receive a structured memo — the issue, the facts relied on, the opinion, your options and the recommended next step — plus a 7-day window to ask the same lawyer clarifying questions in the same thread.
What you'll typically need
- A short description of the facts — a few sentences is enough to begin
- The outcome you're hoping for, so the session is spent on what matters to you
- Whether there's an existing case or lawyer, and the other party's name (for the conflict check)
- Your preferred language and the timezone you'll be joining from
- Any order, notice, agreement or screenshots you already hold — optional, and you can add them later
Documents are optional here — a consultation can go ahead with nothing uploaded at all. If anyone is in immediate danger, or facing threats or violence, say so in the intake: we set the booking flow aside, show you the emergency helplines, and a lawyer calls you within two hours whether or not you have paid.
Made for NRIs. Slots are shown in your local time and matched to a lawyer who speaks your language. The fee is charged in INR and displayed in USD or AED so you always know what you're paying. If the video drops, the session falls back to voice and then to WhatsApp — no rebooking, no trip home.
