The correct apostille or consular-legalisation chain for your document, planned with an Indian lawyer — booked into your timezone, delivered in writing. Describe the document and where it's headed, choose a complexity tier, and speak to one in-house NOS lawyer by video, voice or WhatsApp. You leave with a written roadmap within 48 hours and 45 days to ask follow-up questions while you work through it yourself.
Understand the service
What we can help with
Consulate / Apostille Guidance is a paid, time-boxed session with an in-house NOS lawyer to plan getting an Indian document lawfully apostilled (for Hague Convention destinations) or legalised (for non-Hague destinations) — or, in the reverse direction, getting a foreign document usable in India. You describe the document, its origin and the destination, choose a tier, pick a slot in your own timezone and pay a flat fee. Nothing is billed by the hour, and no lawyer time is committed until payment is captured.
Three tiers, one flat fee each. Simple for a single document on a standard (non-reverse) flow; Standard for a personal or educational document needing more nuance; and Complex for a document issued abroad, a property Power of Attorney, or a multi-issue matter. Your intake produces a recommendation — you can move up freely, or down with a warning.
What you get. A written roadmap within 48 hours of the session — the exact chain (apostille or consular legalisation), the responsible authority and expected fee at each step, appointment/booking guidance (the MEA/BOSS portal, an outsourced authentication centre, or the destination embassy), and document-freshness cautions — plus 45 days to ask the same lawyer follow-up questions as you work through the chain. If your matter converts into a follow-on case, your session fee is credited against it.
What it isn't. This is planning and coaching, not execution — you (or your representative) lodge and collect the document at each authority and pay every authority fee directly; we don't lodge documents, appear before an authority, or track your progress leg-by-leg. If the opposite party is already a NOS client, or the document has no India nexus or use, we decline and refund in full rather than advise you badly.
How it works on the ground
The government process is scattered across portals, offices and paperwork. NOS turns it into one guided flow.
The reality on the ground
Getting a document apostilled or legalised today
Apostille vs. consular legalisation is confusing, and getting it wrong means a wasted trip and a rejected document.
Which State authority pre-authenticates your specific document — HRD, Home department, GAD, or the Chamber of Commerce — is rarely obvious.
Nobody explains upfront whether the MEA step runs through a BOSS-portal appointment or an outsourced centre in your city.
From abroad, figuring out whether your certificate is even fresh enough for the destination's rules is easy to miss until it's rejected.
The NOS way
One session, one lawyer, one roadmap
01Tell us what you need
A short intake covering the document, its origin, the destination country and any deadline. About two minutes, before any payment.
02Conflict & scope checks
Every matter is screened before a slot is confirmed — and we refund in full rather than advise where we shouldn't.
03A tier matched to your matter
Complexity scoring maps you to Simple, Standard or Complex. Reverse-flow and property-POA matters are floored to Complex. The flat fee is shown before you commit.
04A slot in your timezone
Slots render in your local time, filtered to lawyers who speak your language.
05The session, on your channel
Video, voice, or WhatsApp voice if the line drops — with the lawyer who owns your matter.
06A roadmap you can act on
The exact chain, the authority and fee at each step, appointment guidance, and freshness cautions — plus 45 days of follow-up with the same lawyer while you work through it.

What we handle
How it works
- 01Step 1
Tell us about the document & destination
The document type, where and when it was issued, the destination country, your purpose, and any deadline you're working against — a short intake, about two minutes.
- 02Step 2
We screen the matter
A conflict-of-interest and scope check runs before anything is booked. A document with no India nexus or use, or a request for us to actually lodge or register something rather than advise, is declined and refunded in full.
- 03Step 3
Choose your tier & slot
Your answers produce a complexity score and a recommended tier — Simple, Standard or Complex. A document issued abroad (reverse flow) or a property-POA matter floors you to Complex. Then pick a slot in your own timezone with a lawyer who speaks your language.
- 04Step 4
Pay — and your lawyer is assigned
Sessions are pay-first at a flat fee for the tier — no per-leg charges, no agency mark-ups. The slot is held and one lawyer becomes the owner of your matter only once payment is captured.
- 05Step 5
Your session
The lawyer works out whether your destination needs an apostille or full consular legalisation, the exact chain of authorities, and where the document-freshness or deadline risks are — by video, voice, or WhatsApp voice if the connection is poor.
- 06Step 6
Roadmap & follow-up
DeliveredWithin 48 hours of the session you receive a written roadmap — the chain, the responsible authority and expected fee at every step, appointment/booking guidance, and freshness cautions — plus 45 days to ask the same lawyer questions as you work through it yourself.
What you'll typically need
- A clear scan of the original document you need apostilled or legalised (all pages)
- A copy of your passport (photo page)
- Where and when the document was issued, and the destination country
- Your purpose (employment, study, visa, property/POA, business, family) and any deadline
- Who will physically run the attestation legs — you, a representative in India, or you abroad
- Whether there's an existing case or lawyer, and the other party's name (for the conflict check)
The document scan and your passport copy are both mandatory and requested once your session is booked — the session can't start without them. Related papers (an existing attestation, a prior rejection letter) are optional but help the lawyer give a more precise roadmap.
Made for NRIs. Slots are shown in your local time and matched to a lawyer who speaks your language. The fee is charged in INR and displayed in USD or AED so you always know what you're paying. If the video drops, the session falls back to voice and then to WhatsApp — no rebooking, no trip home.
